RIM BlackBerry Bold Smartphone unveiled

RIM has released its new smartphone named BlackBerry Bold (model number: 9000). This is the first BlackBerry model to support tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks around the world. Integrated GPS, Wi-Fi and other multimedia capabilities are the key features of the latest model.RIM BlackBerry Bold
The Bold is wrapped in a glossy black body having a satin chrome finished frame and stylish leather-like backplate. Like all other BlackBerry handsets, the Bold also features a QWERTY keyboard.

The latest smartphone is equipped with the next-generation 624 MHz mobile processor making downloading, video streaming and web surfing faster. Moreover, the Bold features 128MB Flash memory plus 1GB on-board storage memory. Users seeking for additional memory can expand the storage with microSD/SDHC memory card.

The BlackBerry Bold further supports Word, Excel or PowerPoint files and users can edit them on the handset itself through preloaded DataViz Documents to Go suite. Additionally, RIM claims that the Bold delivers a web browsing experience with desktop-style depiction. The trackball can be used as a mouse to navigate the webpage, while various emulation settings allow users to choose between the full desktop-style HTML content and layout or the mobile version.

The latest smartphone boasts various connectivity features such as 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a quad-band EDGE and tri-band HSDPA. For using GPS functionality, Bold supports BlackBerry Maps and other location-based applications or services.

The Bold includes multimedia features such as
* Half-VGA (480×320 resolution) color LCD
* A 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, built-in flash and 5x digital zoom
* An enhanced media player
* Built-in dual speakers
* Equalizer with 11 preset filters – like “Lounge”, “Jazz” and “Hip Hop etc
* BlackBerry Desktop Manager Software
* High Speed USB 2.0

The BlackBerry Bold is expected to be available from wireless carriers across the globe by the beginning of this summer. The pricing information of the Bold has not been announced as of now.
